{Strawberry Heart Pancakes}

It's Valentine's Day. So I made pancakes. With strawberries. Strawberries in the shape of hearts. Squeeee!!
I used a basic fluffy pancake recipe for this and strawberries are naturally heart-shaped when sliced, so all you need to do is core the the top of the berry to remove the leaves. Then slice fairly thinly. Ensure to core the tops, don't be tempted to cut straight across or you'll lose the upper curves of the heart. Recipe follows the photo.

Pancakes with a Strawberry Heart in the Center -- great for V-Day or Mothers Day!

Fluffy Strawberry Heart Pancakes

1 cup milk
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
...and don't forget your sliced strawberries

  1. Create "sour" milk by combining the milk and white vinegar in a large mixing bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Pour the flour mixture into the wet ingredients and whisk until lumps are gone.
  3. Heat a lightly greased pan over medium heat. Place a strawberry slice in your pan and immediately pour half a ladle of batter on top. When bubbles rise to the top, carefully flip over with a wide spatula and cook the other side until brown.
Makes about 16 small pancakes.
